Tom Pakkanen is a practitioner-researcher and experienced clinical forensic psychologist with a PhD in behavioural crime linking from Åbo Akademi University. His areas of expertise and research interests encompass criminal profiling, investigative interviewing, interrogation strategies, rapport-building skills, and conflict resolution. He specializes in suspect interrogation, child abuse investigations, risk and threat assessment, and decision-making processes in both police investigations and the broader judicial system. With over two decades of experience, Tom provides behavioural investigative advice to law enforcement and serves as an expert witness in court proceedings. His clinical background includes extensive work in the assessment and treatment of forensic psychiatric patients and severe psychoses. Since 2004, Tom has been a trainer at the Police College of Finland and is a sought-after lecturer in applied forensic psychology.
